"Nobel Laureate Films - Serge Haroche"
Via DOG&RABBIT
Serge Haroche describes his work on the manipulation of quantum systems, which won him a share of the 2012 Nobel Prize in physics.
I was given his name, his voice recording, and a big heap of trust.
The rest was up to me - total free reign to come up with style, story, techniques and visual analogies to explain the intangible. I can’t tell you how exciting that is! We do our best work when we can let our creativity off the leash.
So I pickled my brain in quantum physics research, thought up ways to make it into a journey, and wound up a bit dizzy but even more hooked on science.
Obviously 2 mins can't cover it all - do check out Serge Haroche's lectures on youtube, if you fancy a brain-tickle!
Here's what the client said. Thanks Noah!
"Really, really impressed. It is witty, sharp, informative, cute, sophisticated and absolutely beautiful all at once. The animator works with the subject matter and the quirks of Haroche’s speech deftly and intelligently, and manages to conceptualise (VERY) difficult concepts stunningly, without sacrificing scientific accuracy - I cannot express how tricky that is to do. The animator was also receptive to feedback, both editorial and scientific, and was creative and thoughtful in response; a total pleasure to work. As someone who has spent years trying to tell quantum stories to a general audience, and tearing my hair out doing it, I tip my Schrodinger’s cat to you.
BRAVO."
