Cover illustration for “Dementia on Screen” by Michael Chanan

This illustration for documentary film-maker and Professor of Film and Video Michael Chanan was a joy to put together.
Some of the images a recreations of scenes from the films studied in the book, and one features a memory of my own grandmother who had dementia.
She loved wildlife documentaries and used to quietly shush us and tell us not to move, so we didn’t scare the animals away.
